Inspiring Stories
As part of our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, three members of Team Corebridge shared inspiring stories about their families and their experiences and contributions across generations. For Alejandro Alvarez, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the people that made it possible for him to pursue the American dream. In his video, Alejandro shared how an act of love changed his outlook on life and led him to become a leader within his community.
Linda Nila shared the story of her grandfather who built a community of boxcars when he came to America and how that taught her the importance of giving back to her own community.
Amanda Barkus shared her experience of moving to the United States from Colombia, how diversity positively impacts innovation, and how her journey has shaped the way she defines success.
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations continued
In addition to hearing from members of Team Corebridge and how they celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we also offered several events throughout the month hosted by our Hispanic/Latinx Professionals & Allies Employee Resource Group. We hosted a Professional Development Lunch & Learn, with the theme of this being “Embracing our Heritage for the Future,” our 11th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Art Show livestreamed from our Houston office, and a BakerRipley Basic Needs Donation Drive and Bag Assembly volunteer event. Employees were also encouraged to consider making a donation and request a matching grant through the Corebridge Matching Grants Program to featured charities that honor and celebrate the Hispanic community.
Cultivating an environment of inclusion and belonging where people from all backgrounds can thrive helps make Corebridge a great place to work.
