Corebridge Financial has launched a new partnership with American Corporate Partners (ACP), a national nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping our nation’s Veterans and Active-Duty Spouses transition to the private sector through one-on-one mentoring with volunteer Mentors from corporate America.
What is American Corporate Partners?
Founded in 2008 with six corporate partners, ACP now partners with over 125 corporations to support military service members in their transition from military to civilian life. ACP addresses these challenges through a comprehensive program that includes mentoring, career counseling, and professional networking. More than three million service members have joined our military since 9/11. And, veterans face significant employment challenges when transitioning from the military to civilian life. These challenges include choosing a career path, translating military skills and experience, and the inability to network with potential employers. In a study conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 53% of veterans reported being unemployed for four months or longer. For those who do find employment, they are often underemployed.
Currently, the ACP Mentoring Program supports 5,000 mentorships between corporate professionals and program clients, called “Protégés.” To be an effective mentor, you do not need to have a military background, just the ability to provide at least one hour a month for the year to a Veteran or Active-Duty Spouse that is seeking a career in your specific industry. Mentors provide effective feedback and advice on how they can excel in their post-military experience.
